Kudos to two Memphis-based companies, both of which are working to help area nonprofits.
First up there’s Tal Frankfurt’s startup Cloud for Good, which just launched SynagogueCloud, a comprehensive management application built on the Salesforce platform.
The new app offers synagogues a Web-based system to manage constituent conversations and information.
“The cloud revolution and the Salesforce platform are changing the way synagogues operate today by providing the cutting-edge technology needed to build deep and meaningful relationships with their constituents,” said Frankfurt, founder and CEO of Cloud for Good. “We tailored Salesforce, one of the most powerful web based applications, to manage every touch the synagogue has with its members, board, volunteers, partners and vendors. The application allows a synagogue’s staff to manage one list that is integrated with their website, social networks and financial systems.”

And then we have Obsidian Public Relations, which is sponsoring its second annual “PR 180° Project” and offering free marketing services to nonprofit organizations.
This is an online competition that will result in five finalists vying for a chance to receive six months of pro bono PR work. Two winners will be determined by voting at Obsidian’s Facebook page. Last year’s recipients were Memphis Roller Derby and On Our Own, a local agency that creates social opportunities for young adults with disabilities.
“The PR 180° Project was an amazing success last year, and we can’t wait to see this year’s list of nominees,” said Courtney Liebenrood Ellett, Obsidian’s founder. “It has been a true pleasure working with Memphis Roller Derby and On Our Own, and we look forward to partnering with 2013’s winners.”
Nominations, which much be submitted by a person in a leadership role at the nonprofit, will be accepted through Dec. 7. Voting begins on Dec. 10 and the top five vote-getters will then be entered into a two-day runoff with the two that receive the most votes winning the services. Nominations may be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
