In case you haven’t heard, Nike is expanding its Memphis operations and plans to actively pursue contracts with women and minority small business owners for the project.
To promote those efforts, the company will offer two days of informational forums in February for women and minority small business owners specializing in construction.
Here’s more from the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce, which is helping coordinate the programs:
Nike, Inc. recently announced they would undertake a major expansion of their distribution campus located in north Memphis. In order to inform locally-owned, small, woman-owned and minority businesses of the opportunities that will come from this large construction project, Nike will hold two construction symposiums on February 7 & 8 at the University of Memphis Law School in downtown Memphis.
During the symposium, locally-owned businesses will hear directly from Nike officials on the scale and timing of the project and how local companies can take advantage of opportunities to submit bids. In addition, representatives from Economic Development Growth Engine, the Midsouth Minority Business Council Continuum, the Black Business Association, Memphis Office of Resources & Enterprise (MORE), National Association of Women Business Owners, The Memphis Minority Contractors Association and others will be available to provide specific information on how their agencies provide assistance in taking advantage of the opportunities this important project will provide.
This “Construction/Contractor Symposium” is only for persons and entities in the construction industry. Vendors that are NOT in the construction industry will be turned away at the door.
The two symposiums will take place from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on both Thursday, February 7th and Friday, February 8th at the University of Memphis Law Schools, located in downtown Memphis.
If you are interested in attending either symposium, please contact Brenda Montgomery at (901) 543-3500 or email@example.com to reserve your spot.
