Nick Tippmann, who stepped into a senior organizer’s role last year at the inaugural Everywhere Else conference is running the whole show this year and when I spoke to him recently he said that this year’s sophomore effort is set to be even better than last year’s conference, albeit slightly different.
In a move to focus on quality over quantity, Tippmann said, he and others are deliberately downsizing the event to make it more manageable and operable given its young age and small staff. There are several changes in store this year, but one thing that remains the same is the focus on innovation and entrepreneurial excellenct. And as part of a compeition pitting some of the nation’s best startups against each other, 10 finalists have been selected to compete and three companies from Memphis are in the mix (MentorMe, Screwpulp and WeddingWorthy).

Memphis, TN, April 8, 2014: Everywhere Else Tennessee has selected its 10 finalists to exhibit in their Startup Avenue and pitch in their Startup Showdown competition. The Startup Showdown pitch competition will take place on the main stage in front of a packed house of 400 entrepreneurs, investors and press and is being judged by a panel of venture capitalists and angel investors. The winner will be crowned “Heavyweight Champion of Everywhere Else.”
